Oh man. I had a great visit with much picture-taking -- I've got lots of pictures to share. Because there's so many and I don't want to break it up into several different posts, I'll post a few and then have more after the break.
Warning: Beyond this point are babies. Lots and lots of babies.
Enjoy, folks!
So Wade was sleeping when I first got there, and seemed very confused at my presence when he woke up. When I went in to get him up he just stared for ages trying to figure out who I was.
Then he ran around and showed off and all had a good time. It was great.
Ben is a pretty cool baby too. See dem shades?
At first I wasn't too crazy about this one, because you couldn't see his face. But it's a pretty good representation of Wade, come to think of it.
BREAK!
By the end of the day his hand had a big, hard, white blister running from thumb to heel of palm that looked awful. He didn't seem to mind it after it hardened up, but it looked terrible. He couldn't pick anything up for a couple of days without screaming either. :/
He got himself on the forearm too, but it didn't look near as bad as his hand.
And while Wade screamed for hours, Ben was pretty chill. I daresay he was lulled to sleep by the racket...
See what I mean? He's a pretty chill baby.
I can't remember what day this was...they all blur together after a while, unfortunately. >.< I think it might have been Monday though. We were trying to distract Wade from his hand by playing in the yard, and it definitely worked (though at the expense of dirtying up his hands and clothes).
He likes it outside. As in really REALLY likes it. This is one of the rare times that he was still--mostly he's going 'FREEDOOOOOM' and charging around like a maniac. It's pretty great.
Like that!
Because dirt is delicious, that's why.
Okay, so one of the things he's mastered (for the most part) is the 'Where's Wade' game. Someone says "Where's Wade?" and he covers his face...
...only to reveal it when one says "There he is!"
Have I mentioned yet that I have a pretty adorable nephew? :p
This one's pretty cute too. Just wait until I get to the smiling pictures. ;)
This dude was pretty cool. We were wandering around downtown St. Petersburg, settled down in a little outdoor Cajun restaurant, and listened to this guy play his accordion for at least half an hour. He was playing energetically the whole time too--I was very impressed.
A postscript: this cup of beans and rice was AMAZING. I just thought I would throw that out there.
I had my first taste of gelato, too. It was pretty amazing (especially the salted caramel flavor I picked out. Nom nom.).
I would like to point out that if it were in my power and I lived in the proper latitude, I would plant one of these suckers in my immediate vicinity as soon as possible.
That, my friends, is a banyan tree. And it's one of the coolest trees I've ever seen.
It grows from the top down--those dangly things are roots reaching for the ground. Is that not the coolest thing ever? And these things are freakin massive. It would be the best tree house tree in the WORLD.
LIZARD!
I like lizards, what can I say?
This was standing inside one of the trees. Who has seen Swiss Family Robinson, the old version that Disney did when they were all into doing live-action movies of old classic books and they had this awesome tree house that they lived in? Remember that? Anyone?
Well, this tree reminded me of that. Except I could walk between the root-pillars and drool over how awesome the whole thing was.
I still want one.
See how big it is?? It's like the monster tree of Florida!
Sigh. Oh well.
Topic change brought to you by a hysterical Ben!
Actually, he was cracking up here. But it made him look desperate and worried in most of his pictures. XD
He was cracking up, I tell you. XD
Mmm, breakfast time. O.e (He needs to be distracted by bottles and toys and such because food is just boring and he has stuff to DO, yo.)
Aww, worried Ben. He's very expressive for two months, let me tell you.
And then there's this clown...he was chilling in his old bouncy seat a lot after getting his hand burned. Maybe it provided comfort or something. It made him happy though.
Phew. If ya'll made it to the end of this post, major props. *thumbs up* I'm going to have to cut this in half, at the very least, because some of my favorite pictures will be in the next post and I don't want them to get lost in the shuffle. I'll see you again in the next few days, obikaybees?
