Just a brief update to let y'all know what's going on....I have a bajillion pictures starting from Thursday when the rain really started to intensify, but I can only upload a couple for now. I'm sure y'all know by now that Estes Park, Longmont, Lyons, Denver, Boulder, etc are all basically underwater. I can't even describe the pure devastation that has occurred so far, but I'm going to try.
There were two mudslides on Thursday--a 'small' one that wiped out part of the upper meadow and the entirety of fireside, and a huge one that barely missed our property. For an idea of the scope of the thing, watch this video starting at 23:25:
Our ranch is covered in sand, and the first mudslide exposed an underwater spring or something, so we now have a literal river running through Wind River. It has carved this lovely canyon down our road, and no one knows exactly how to make it stop, or if that's even possible.
I'll try to get pictures up soonish. I had thought that I would be leaving Monday, but they want all staff to stay on until we can get everything winterized--gosh, so much has happened in the last two days. Gah. I'll just work on uploading those pictures, shall I? Just know for now that we're all safe and staying in town/off the ranch just in case there's more hazardous conditions, etc.
